📣 In the news

Spotify has announced the launch of Creative Lab, an in-house creative agency that will help brands create custom marketing campaigns on Spotify's platform. The company is also testing generative AI capabilities for ad voiceovers through a new "Quick Audio" tool.

🔍 The move shows Spotify is doubling down on its advertising business to attract more brands to its platform of 615 million listeners. Creative Lab offers an enticing service for marketers to produce audio, video, and interactive ads tailored for Spotify. Additionally, leveraging generative AI for voiceovers could provide a more efficient and cost-effective way for advertisers to create audio ads.

An artificial intelligence avatar called "AI Steve" is an official candidate running for a seat in the UK Parliament representing the Brighton Pavilion area. AI Steve is fronted by Steve Endacott, chairman of a company that creates personalized AI voice assistants. Voters can talk to AI Steve to ask policy questions or share opinions, and its responses are generated by a large language model trained on Endacott's party's platform.

🔍 Endacott claims using AI allows him to be an always-available politician connected to constituents, with policies shaped by their feedback scored weekly. He argues AI can "humanize" politics by enabling direct voter input rather than having politicians only seek votes every few years. While gimmicky, it's an experiment in leveraging AI for campaigning and governance. If elected, AI Steve would be one of the first AI-assisted representatives, raising questions around transparency, bias, and AI's appropriate role in democratic processes.

Pinterest is introducing several new AI-driven advertising products and initiatives:

  1. Pinterest Ad Labs - An innovation program allowing select brands to test AI prototypes like personalized background generation using Pinterest's visual AI to customize lifestyle scenes, and shoppable AI-generated collages.

  2. Pinterest Performance+ - An automated campaign tool using AI to optimize for advertiser goals like conversions or consideration. Early tests showed 10%+ performance improvements.

  3. Expanded Brand Safety - Partnerships with Integral Ad Science and DoubleVerify to provide AI-powered brand safety and suitability measurement across Pinterest ads. Initial tests found over 99% of impressions met brand safety standards.

🔍 The moves showcase how Pinterest is leveraging generative AI across its ad platform - for creative production, performance optimization, and brand protection. This allows advertisers to create more personalized, engaging content while driving campaign results through AI automation. It also aims to address brand safety concerns as AI-generated visuals proliferate online. Overall, it's part of Pinterest's vision for how generative AI can enhance its ad offerings.

Asana has introduced 'AI teammates' - AI agents designed to work alongside humans in executing workflows within organizations.

🔍 These AI teammates can help automate administrative tasks and streamline work processes, potentially boosting productivity. However, Asana stresses keeping humans in the loop to oversee the AI's recommendations.

🎥 Focus on AI video

The last 2 weeks have been wild in the AI Video world.

With OpenAI's secretive Sora model still under development, three rival tech companies have seized the moment to unveil their own cutting-edge language models, sparking a heated race in generative AI.

Kling

Released by Chinese tech giant Kuaishou, Kling appeared suddenly two weeks ago and made sensation on X.

Kling is capable of generating complex motions and simulating the characteristics of the physical world. Kling also possesses powerful conceptual combination and imagination abilities. Kling can generate videos up to two minutes long with a frame rate of 30fps and video resolution up to 1080p while supporting a variety of aspect ratios.

Kling is currently available for beta testing within "KuaiYing" (快影), Kuaishou's video editing application for users in China. Users may register and apply for a Kling trial through KuaiYing. For more information and a video demo, please visit Kling's official website at http://kling.kuaishou.com/

Luma Dream generator

A few days only after Kling released in China, LumaAI released their own video generation model called DreamMachine. DreamMachine is an AI model that makes high quality, realistic videos fast from text and images.

The model understands how people, animals and objects interact with the physical world. This allows you to create videos with great character consistency and accurate physics.

LumaAI is originally an AI tool to create realistic 3D images, videos, and game assets, allowing them to have better physics and spatial understanding for their video model.

The renders look similar to Kling, but unfortunately we could not test Kling yet.

Here is a short story we made, starting from Midjourney renders upscaled with MagnificAI, then animated with Luma.

Runway

In a move likely fueled by the recent influx of powerful new AI video tools, Runway has just unveiled their Gen-3 model. Early footage suggests it could be a serious contender against Kling and Luma.

This release, currently in alpha stage, might be a strategic response to keep users engaged as the AI video landscape heats up. Gen-3 represents the first of a series trained on Runway's new infrastructure for large-scale multimodal training, hinting at even more powerful advancements to come.

While Gen-3 isn't publicly available yet, its early arrival signals Runway's commitment to staying at the forefront of AI video tech.

These 3 AI models shook the generative AI scene, leaving everyone eager for OpenAI's Sora reveal, Pika Labs' next models, and perhaps even Nvidia's potential entry. The next generation of AI video tools is just unfolding.
