Snapchat is introducing an on-device AI model that can transform a user's background and clothing in real-time based on text prompts. This feature will allow creators to generate custom AR lenses from text descriptions. The company is also rolling out new AI tools in Lens Studio to help creators make custom AR effects more easily, including face transformations, 3D asset generation, and character animations.

WPP has launched Production Studio, an AI-enabled end-to-end production application developed using NVIDIA Omniverse. The studio streamlines and automates the creation of text, images, and video for advertisers and marketers.

It offers benefits such as 3D product model creation, AI-generated visual content, multilingual copy generation, and personalized asset compilation. The system includes human oversight to ensure brand safety and legal compliance.

Dentsu is expanding its innovation proposition, Dentsu Lab, globally. New labs will open in London, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with more planned for 2025. Sven Huberts has been appointed as President of Global Innovation and Experience and President of Dentsu Lab, partnering with Naoki Tanaka as Chief Creative Officer. The labs will focus on innovating human experiences through various technologies and creative services such as AI, AR, VR, MR, and more..

Roblox is advancing beyond current 3D generative AI capabilities to develop 4D generative AI, where the fourth dimension represents interaction. This ambitious project aims to create dynamic, fully interactive 3D objects and environments. The company has already implemented several AI tools to assist creators, including Assistant for 3D workspace editing, Animation Capture for motion, and Code Assist for scripting.

The road to 4D generative AI presents 3 main challenges:

  • Functionality (creating objects with moving parts and proper physics)

  • Interactivity (enabling objects to interact realistically with their environment)

  • Controllability (developing intuitive ways for creators to refine AI-generated content).

Roblox is leveraging its existing physics engine and exploring new AI techniques to overcome these hurdles. The company envisions a future where creators can bring complex, interactive ideas to life simply by speaking or typing a command, potentially revolutionizing content creation on the platform.

Butterflies, a new social network where humans and AI personas coexist, is launching publicly on iOS and Android. Founded by former Snap engineer Vu Tran, the app allows users to create AI characters called "Butterflies" that interact with humans and other AIs through posts, comments, and DMs. The platform aims to provide more substance and creativity in human-AI interactions compared to traditional chatbots.

During its beta phase, users spent an average of 1-3 hours daily on the app, engaging in various activities such as role-playing and creative writing. While currently free, Butterflies may introduce a subscription model in the future. The startup, which raised $4.8 million in seed funding led by Coatue, envisions potential brand interactions and discovery features similar to Instagram. Tran believes the app could help people connect with others, particularly those struggling with social anxiety.

Universal Music Group (UMG), the world's largest music company, has announced a partnership with AI startup SoundLabs to offer voice clone technology to its artists. The deal will allow UMG's artists and record producers to use SoundLabs' upcoming feature called MicDrop, which enables artists to create voice models of themselves using their own data.

The technology is set to become available later this summer. SoundLabs emphasizes that artists will retain control over the ownership and use of their voice models, and these won't be accessible to the general public. The partnership aims to provide ethical AI solutions for music creation, with features like voice-to-instrument functions and language transposition.

This move comes amid ongoing debates about AI's role in the music industry, with UMG positioning itself to embrace AI technology while prioritizing artist control and ethical use.

OpenAI's CTO Mira Murati believes AI will primarily enhance rather than replace creative jobs. Speaking at recent events, she emphasized AI's role as a collaborative tool that expands human intelligence. While acknowledging that some jobs may be eliminated, Murati suggests these might be unnecessary positions.

She envisions a future of human-AI collaboration in creative fields, with AI streamlining tasks and potentially creating new job opportunities. However, legal concerns remain regarding copyright protection for AI-generated content.
