Black Forest Labs has unveiled FLUX.1 Kontext, a suite of advanced image-generating models that enable both image creation and editing. The new model allows users to input text and reference images, providing a more interactive experience in generating and modifying visuals. The models are designed for high efficiency, delivering photorealistic results up to eight times faster than existing leading models.

The FLUX.1 Kontext family includes two primary models: FLUX.1 Kontext [pro], which supports iterative editing while preserving characters and styles, and FLUX.1 Kontext [max], which emphasizes speed and prompt adherence. Additionally, Black Forest Labs has launched a model playground that allows users to experiment with these capabilities without signing up for third-party services, providing 200 free credits for new users to generate images.

Opera has announced its new AI browser, Neon, which aims to revolutionize how users interact with the internet by automating various tasks. According to Opera, Neon can generate games, reports, code snippets, and websites using cloud-based AI agents, even while the user is offline. The browser is positioned as a "premium subscription product," but details on its launch date and pricing remain unclear.

Neon features tools similar to those found in Microsoft’s Copilot and OpenAI’s Operator, allowing users to engage with a chatbot interface for web searches and contextual information. It also includes an AI Agent designed to automate routine tasks, like online shopping and form filling, while ensuring privacy and security by operating locally within the browser. Further information about Neon’s capabilities will be available when it enters beta testing, though a specific timeline has not been provided.

Rumi has raised $4.7 million in a pre-seed funding round to innovate passive media consumption by introducing interactive AI experiences. The company launched its invite-only beta app, enabling users to engage with content in real time, such as chatting with on-screen characters or receiving real-time fact checks during broadcasts. This funding round, co-led by A16z crypto CSX and EV3, will support Rumi's goal of creating a decentralized AI infrastructure for media.

The "watch-to-earn" model allows users to earn rewards for their contributions while watching content. By analyzing videos and interacting with them, users help build a rich knowledge base that empowers AI agents to enhance media experiences. Rumi aims to provide advertisers with valuable viewership analytics and contextual ads, creating a seamless integration of promotion within media content. The platform is focused on Web3 users, who are familiar with sharing resources for rewards.

Odyssey, a startup founded by pioneers in self-driving technology, has unveiled an AI model that allows users to interact with streaming video in real time. Currently available in an early demo, the model generates video frames every 40 milliseconds, enabling viewers to explore 3D environments similar to video games. Odyssey's approach utilizes a new world model to predict and generate realistic pixels while maintaining spatial consistency.

The company aims to collaborate with creative professionals, emphasizing that its technology will enhance rather than replace traditional media production. Despite the potential for disruption in the entertainment industry, Odyssey is committed to improving its model, which currently streams video at up to 30 frames per second. With $27 million raised from various investors, Odyssey is also developing software to integrate its generated scenes with popular editing tools like Unreal Engine and Blender.

UBS has begun deploying AI-generated avatars of its analysts using OpenAI and Synthesia technology, responding to increased client demand for video research content. This initiative, launched in January, aims to enhance video production efficiency, allowing analysts to generate lifelike video presentations of their reports quickly.

The avatars are created through a process where UBS analysts record their likeness and voice in a studio, and AI models generate scripts based on their written reports. While the bank targets producing around 5,000 avatar videos annually, there have been challenges with certain accents that affected the technology's performance. UBS emphasizes transparency by clearly labeling AI-generated content, ensuring it complements, rather than replaces, human analysts.

Independent creative agency Impero has developed a unique digital activation for Jameson Black Barrel to celebrate Father's Day, transforming customer stories into personalized songs. This campaign allows purchasers to share memorable anecdotes by scanning a QR code on the whiskey's gift box, leading to an AI-powered song-making experience. Customers can record voice notes or type their stories, which the AI then transforms into custom-made musical tracks, creating a memorable keepsake paired with the premium whiskey.

Luke Martins, Senior Account Director at Impero, emphasized the personal touch that this campaign brings, making each bottle a special gift. Anna Kelly, Head of Innovation at Jameson, highlighted the initiative's goal to reimagine traditional whiskey gifting by combining award-winning whiskey with cutting-edge AI personalization. The campaign aims to create genuine connections between gift-givers and recipients, marking an industry first in personalized gifting. The limited-edition product is set to be available on Amazon.co.uk and in O’Briens in Ireland starting June 2025.
