At the Google I/O 2025 developer conference, Google introduced Veo 3, an advanced video-generating AI model capable of creating accompanying audio such as sound effects, background noises, and dialogue. This model improves upon its predecessor, Veo 2, offering enhanced video quality and the ability to sync generated sounds automatically with video clips.
Veo 3 is available to subscribers of Googleβs $249.99-per-month AI Ultra plan through the Gemini chatbot app. The introduction of audio generation sets Veo 3 apart from other video models in a crowded market, as it can understand visual content and deliver coherent soundtracks. Additionally, Google is implementing watermarking technology to address concerns about deepfakes, while also rolling out new features for Veo 2 to enhance user experience.

Google has introduced Flow, a new AI filmmaking tool designed for creatives, leveraging its advanced models like Veo, Imagen, and Gemini. Flow aims to enhance storytelling by allowing users to create cinematic clips and scenes effortlessly, offering features that cater to both professionals and beginners.
With Flow, users can control camera angles, manage assets, and use intuitive prompting to describe their creative visions. The tool builds on the previous VideoFX experiment and is available to subscribers of Googleβs AI Pro and Ultra plans in the U.S., with plans for expanded availability in other countries.

Google has announced plans to incorporate advertisements into its AI Mode, an AI-powered feature within Google Search. Ads may appear alongside AI-generated responses or below them, aiming to provide relevant suggestions for users. For instance, if a user inquires about building a website, an ad for a website builder might be shown.
This move aligns with Google's revenue strategy, as advertising remains a significant source of income, generating $66.89 billion in Q1 2025 alone. While advertisers using Googleβs existing campaign tools will be eligible for placement in AI Mode, user reactions may be mixed, as a recent poll indicated that many consumers are skeptical about AI in advertising. Additionally, Google plans to expand ads in its AI Overviews feature, which summarizes search queries, further integrating ads into its AI offerings.

OpenAI is collaborating with former Apple designer Jony Ive to develop a new pocket-sized, screen-free device that is not eyewear. Details emerged from an internal staff call, revealing that the device will be contextually aware and serve as a "third core device" alongside a MacBook Pro and an iPhone. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman aims to release the product by late 2026 and believes it could significantly enhance the company's value.
Altman emphasized that the device is designed to avoid the pitfalls of screen dependency, a concern voiced by Ive regarding the impact of smartphones. The project, which follows OpenAI's $6.5 billion acquisition of Ive's AI hardware startup, io, is described as a "new design movement," reflecting a strong collaborative vision between the two leaders.

Amazon Music has announced the testing of a new AI-powered search feature called "Explore," aimed at helping fans learn more about their favorite artists. Users can access this feature by tapping the "Find" button and entering an artist's name, allowing them to discover information about collaborations, related artists, and highlights from the artist's discography.
The Explore feature also includes the option to create AI-generated playlists, enhancing user engagement within the app. This rollout follows a recent price increase for the Music Unlimited subscription, suggesting that Amazon is looking to attract more users with enticing features. Currently, Explore is available to select Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers in the U.S. on the iOS app, but it is limited to 10,000 artists for the beta phase.
