Pinterest has announced new measures to address the growing concerns over AI-generated content on its platform. Users will soon see labels on AI-generated and AI-modified images, making it easier to identify such content. Additionally, Pinterest plans to implement a feature that allows users to reduce the visibility of generative AI Pins in categories like beauty and art, where such content has proliferated.

The company aims to enhance user experience by providing more control over the type of content displayed. Pinterest's CTO emphasized that while generative AI can offer inspiration, it is crucial to implement these tools thoughtfully to maintain the platform's value for users. The timeline for the rollout of these features has not yet been specified.

The Wikimedia Foundation has unveiled its AI strategy for the next three years, emphasizing that it will not replace its community of editors and volunteers. Instead, the foundation aims to use AI to develop tools that eliminate technical barriers, enabling users to focus on content creation and collaboration without technical hurdles.

AI will be employed to automate repetitive tasks, enhance information discoverability, assist with translations, and streamline the onboarding process for new volunteers. The foundation's approach will prioritize human agency, transparency, and ethical considerations, ensuring that AI serves to support the Wikipedia community rather than replace it.

Freepik has introduced a new AI image model, F Lite, which has been exclusively trained on commercially licensed images deemed โ€œsafe-for-work.โ€ The model features around 10 billion parameters and was developed in collaboration with the AI startup Fal.ai, utilizing 64 Nvidia H100 GPUs over two months.

F Lite is available in two versions: standard and texture, each trained on an internal dataset of approximately 80 million images. While the standard version is designed to be more reliable, the texture variant offers enhanced creative compositions but may be less consistent. Freepik aims to provide developers with an openly available model for customization, as the market for AI models trained on licensed data continues to expand amid ongoing copyright discussions.

OpenAI has announced an update to ChatGPT's search capabilities, aimed at improving the online shopping experience for users. The upgraded feature will provide product recommendations, images, reviews, and direct links to purchase items when users search for products. Initially, the feature will focus on categories such as fashion, beauty, home goods, and electronics.

This enhancement is part of OpenAI's strategy to compete with Google by offering a more personalized search experience without incorporating ads. The shopping results will rely on structured metadata from third parties, ensuring transparency and independence from advertising revenue. Future updates will include personalized shopping recommendations based on user memory, although this feature will not be available in certain regions.

Skechers has launched Luna, an AI-powered retail assistant, at its new store in Punggol Coast Mall, developed by We Are Social Singapore. This virtual assistant allows customers to receive personalized style advice and product recommendations through an interactive kiosk in-store or via Telegram. By using real-time data from conversations, Luna acts as a personal stylist, offering suggestions based on customers' outfits or preferences, thus enhancing the shopping experience in the newly opened Punggol Digital District.

Irene Lee, Senior General Manager of Skechers Singapore, emphasized the brand's commitment to connecting with customers through innovative solutions. Manolis Perrakis, Innovation Director at We Are Social Singapore, highlighted that Luna leverages advanced AI speech-to-speech technologies to create a seamless integration of online and offline shopping experiences. This initiative aims to strengthen customer relationships and facilitate dynamic interactions, enriching the overall retail journey. The activation is available for a limited time at the Skechers store in Punggol Coast Mall.
