Looking back at this year, let's remember some of the most amazing AI campaigns that really stood out:

Ukraine's AI Olympic team

This campaign unveils Ukraine's first-ever AI Olympic team, created to honor six athletes who lost their lives in the war. The young boxer Maksym Halinichev, who died on the front line in 2023 at the age of 22, Anastasiia Honcharova (cyclist), Fedir Iepifanov (fencer), Oleksandr Peleshenko (weightlifter), Mykyta Zasiadko (swimmer) and Mykola Zhydkov (footballer). Using AI, the initiative brings these athletes back to life digitally, allowing them to share their stories and aspirations during the Paris Olympics. This poignant tribute not only commemorates their dreams but also highlights the broader impact of conflict on sports and society.

Kodak Launches AI experience for people with dementia

Kodak has introduced "Memory Shots," an AI website experience designed to help individuals with dementia reconstruct memories through images. Users can create AI-generated photos by typing a short description of a memory and specifying the time period, resulting in images styled like Kodak photos from that era.

Developed in collaboration with the Belgian agency Happiness, the tool aims to facilitate conversations between caregivers and loved ones. The project was informed by research on reminiscence therapy, which uses cues like images to evoke memories, potentially reducing stress and anxiety in patients.

Geoffrey Hantson, chief creative officer of Happiness, noted the communication challenges faced by those with dementia. The team consulted with dementia specialists to refine the tool, which has shown promise in enhancing emotional and detailed conversations among users. Future studies will explore its effectiveness in triggering longer dialogues and memories.

Manchester City lets fans design new kit with AI

Manchester City is inviting its fans to participate in the design of its new third kit for the 2026-2027 season through an innovative AI-powered competition. In collaboration with Puma and the AI firm DeepObjects, the club has launched a text-to-image uniform generator that allows fans to generate their own designs. Participants can create an account, upload a prompt describing their vision, and select from styles like "abstract" or "emotive brushstrokes."

Once users generate their designs, they can customize various elements, including collar styles, trim colors, and badges. Each participant receives 15 credits to create designs, although only two creations can be submitted for the contest, which runs until December 20. The winning design, determined by fan ratings and evaluations from Manchester City and Puma experts, will be worn by the players and sold to fans.

This initiative not only showcases the integration of AI in sports merchandising but also emphasizes fan engagement. Notably, players such as Ederson, Stefan Ortega, and Rico Lewis have already used the Puma AI Creator to design a goalkeeper kit inspired by the net of a football goal, marking it as the first AI-generated soccer uniform to be worn in a match.
